单词 had
释义

hadhadehodn.

Forms: Old English hád, Middle English had, Middle English hade, hod.
Etymology: Old English hád = Old Saxon hêd , condition, rank ( < Old Germanic *haidu-z : compare Gothic haidus way, manner, Old High German heit masculine and feminine, person, personality, sex, condition, quality, rank, Old Norse heiðr honour, dignity, Swedish häder , Danish hæder honour). Being used in combination with nouns as in cild-hád , mægden-hád , etc., this word, after its obsolescence as an independent word, remained as a suffix, Middle English -hod , modern -hood suffix. The noun after 1200 appears in southern and midland Middle English as hôd, in northern as had, hode; the forms in a being much more numerous, it is here treated under had, although, if it had lived on, the modern English form would have been hode or hoad.
Obsolete.
