Etymology: < post-classical Latin profluus flowing forth (3rd or 4th cent. with reference to water, 4th cent. with reference to bodily fluids, and to speech), overflowing with (4th cent.; < classical Latin prōfluere to flow forth: see profluent adj.) + -ous suffix.
Obsolete. rare.
Lavish, profuse.
