burrow-duck [f. burrow n.1 (or ? possibly n.2, in sense ‘sand-hill’; cf. burranet) + duck. The bird makes its nest in rabbit-burrows or in sand-hills on the sea-shore.] The Sheldrake or Bergander, Anas tadorna.
