单词 wimmin
释义

wimminn.

Brit. /ˈwɪmɪn/, U.S. /ˈwɪmᵻn/
Origin: A variant or alteration of another lexical item. Etymons: English women , woman n.
Etymology: An altered spelling of women, the plural of woman n.; in sense 1 intended as ‘eye dialect’ (but apparently not signalling a pronunciation any different from the standard one); in sense 2 adopted (by some people with a feminist viewpoint) as a preferred spelling because it does not contain the element -men (i.e. the plural of man n.1); compare similarly womyn n.
1. Chiefly in representations of regional speech: women.
