Etymology: < tath n.: compare Old Norse teðja to manure.
Scottish and dialect.
1. transitive. To manure (land) by turning sheep or cattle upon it (usually said of the cattle); also, by extension, by flooding it. Cf. water-tathe vb. at water n. Compounds 7.
