Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: fund n.1, -able suffix; fund v., -able suffix.
Etymology: Originally < fund n.1 + -able suffix. Compare later fund v. In later use also partly < fund v. + -able suffix.
1. Finance. Of a floating debt, bill, etc.: that can be converted into a more or less permanent debt at a fixed rate of interest. Also: of or relating to such a debt or bill. See fund v. 1b. Now rare.
