selachyl alcohol n. an oily liquid, α-glyceryl cis-9-octadecenyl ether, C₂₁H₄₂O₃, found in the liver oils of elasmobranch fishes.

1964 Oceanogr. & Marine Biol. 2 177 The most abundant alcoholic component of the alkoscydiglycerides is invariably selachyl alcohol, followed by chimyl alcohol and then by batyl alcohol.
