Origin: Formed within English, by derivation; modelled on an Italian lexical item. Etymons: re- prefix, fly v.1
Etymology: < re- prefix + fly v.1 In quot. 1611 at sense 1 apparently after Italian rivolare (1319). Compare also French revoler (12th cent. in Old French).
