Origin: A borrowing from Greek, combined with an English element; perhaps modelled on a French lexical item. Etymons: Greek ὀπός , therapy n.
Etymology: < ancient Greek ὀπός vegetable juice (see opium n.) + therapy n., perhaps after French opothérapie. Compare organotherapy n.H. Cottez Dict. des structures du vocab. savant (ed. 4, 1985), s.v. 3. opo-, attributes opothérapie to L. T. J. Landouzy (1895), but this reference has not been traced.
