1904 Nature 1 Dec. 118/2 Mr. R. H. Solly exhibited and described various minerals from the Lengenbach quarry, Binnenthal. Three of these were new, viz. marrite and bowmanite..and lengenbachite.

1905 R. H. Solly in Mineral. Mag. 14 76 The colour of marrite is lead-grey to steel-grey, but the crystals are usually tarnished with iridescent colours... The name marrite is proposed in honour of Dr. John Edward Marr, F.R.S., of Cambridge.

1967 Zeitschr. f. Kristallogr. 125 459 Marrite, a rare sulfosalt from the Binnatal, Switzerland, has been shown to have composition PbAgAsS₃. The phase is monoclinic, space group P2₁/a.

1983 Amer. Mineralogist 68 243/2 Laffittite is compositionally related to marrite; the Pb atom can be tentatively considered to be substituted by the Hg atom in laffittite.
