Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French motard.
Etymology: < French motard motorcyclist (1937), motorcycle policeman (1949) < moto motorcycle (1898; shortened < either motocycle (see motorcycle n.) or its derivative motocyclette (1898; after bicyclette bicyclette n.)) + -ard -ard suffix.Not fully naturalized in English.
