1914 C. Weber in Jrnl. Western Soc. Engineers Mar. 278 The product of the Cement Gun is called ‘Gunite’ in order to distinguish it from the ordinary cement stucco or plaster work, and for the reason that the material develops qualities which put it in a class all by itself. Gunite is usually a cement mortar composed of about one part of Portland cement and three parts of coarse, sharp sand passing through a 3/ 8 in. screen.
