An attitude or psychological condition considered as particularly characteristic of Americans; esp. a condition or state of nervous tension and fatigue, perceived particularly to affect Americans as a result of a stressful, hurried lifestyle (now chiefly historical).A humorous formation sometimes in apparently serious use.
