Origin: A borrowing from Spanish. Etymon: Spanish almacenista.
Etymology: < Spanish almacenista warehouse owner (18th cent. or earlier) < almacén warehouse, store (see magazine n.) + -ista -ist suffix.
In Spain: a wine dealer and stockholder who buys sherry directly from the producer and sells it on to bottlers or shippers.
