Compare also Irish cartún cartron ( < English), andcartúr chartered land, which is sometimes found in Irish place names corresponding to cartron in the English equivalent, as An Cartúr Leathan (Cartronlahan, County Galway), Cartúr Ghilbeirt (Cartrongilbert, County Mayo), etc.
