androstenedione, n. Physiol.|ˌændrɒstiːnˈdaɪəʊn| [ad. G. Androstendion (coined by Ruzicka & Wettstein 1935, in Helv. Chim. Acta XVIII. 988): see androsterone n., -ene, -dione.] An androgenic steroid, C19H26O2 , from which testosterone and certain oestrogens are derived in humans.
