† phiˈlargyry Obs. Also 7 -gury. [ad. Gr. ϕιλαργυρία, n. of quality from ϕιλάργυρ-ος fond of money, f. ϕιλ(ο-, philo + ἄργυρος silver, money.] Love of money; avarice, covetousness.
