Offering almost continuous views to the river, the Ohio section of the byway offers access to prehistoric American Indian burial mounds and other earthworks; the Campus Martius Museum in Marietta, where visitors can learn about the Europeansettlement of Ohio, spanning the period from 1780 to 1970; Old Fort Steuben, a post Revolutionary War fort built for the protection of surveyors; the Ohio River Museum in Marietta; and the Harriet Beecher StoweHouse, where she wrote Uncle Tom's Cabin.
Legth: 452 miles (Ohio section); 943 miles (entire byway). Start/Endpoint: The Ohio section of the byway runs from the Pennsylvaniaborder on US 52 along the Ohio River to the Indiana state border. It comprises the entire southern border and part of the eastern border of Ohio. Time to Allow: 10 hours (Ohio section). Designation/Year: National Scenic Byway (1998).
