Avdeev, Valentin Nikolaevich

 

Born May 3 (16), 1915; died Oct. 11, 1972, in Moscow. Soviet electronics expert. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR since 1958. Member of the CPSU since 1951.

Avdeev worked at the Svetlana Plant in Leningrad from 1930 until 1942. He was deputy director of the laboratory, 1943–46, and its director, 1946–49. From 1949 until 1960, he directed a scientific research institute. In 1961 he became head of the electronics laboratory of the Academy of Sciences of the Byelorussian SSR. His basic works are in the design and technology of electronic instruments.
