Etymology: < busy adj. + -ly suffix2. Compare Dutch beziglijk actively (1618).In form bisilichen (from the Caligula manuscript of Laȝamon’s Brut: see quot. c1275 at sense 1a) showing nunnation, a very common feature of the language of this text in this manuscript, which has not been satisfactorily explained.
