Etymology: < unmighty adj. + -ness suffix. Compare unmight n.1The Old English form unmihticnysse (accusative) in the variant reading in quot. OE2 is probably a scribal error for unmihtilicnysse inability (which occurs in the corresponding chapter heading in the table of contents of MS Vitellius: Wiþ..unmihtilicnysse þæs migðan), rather than an example of the present word.
