Etymology: < un- prefix1 + limed adj. Compare earlier unlime v.Compare Dutch ongelijmd (17th cent.), German ungeleimt not glued (late 17th cent. or earlier).
1. Not smeared or made sticky with birdlime; (of a branch, twig, etc.) not so treated in order catch small birds; (of a bird or its wings) not caught or coated in birdlime as a result of encountering such a trap. Chiefly figurative and in figurative contexts. Obsolete.
