Etymology: < the name of Thomas Sydenham (1624–89), English physician, who described the chorea in Schedula Monitoria de Novæ Febris Ingressu (1686).
Pathology.
Sydenham's chorea n. a self-limited disorder of childhood or pregnancy that is a neurological manifestation of rheumatic fever, affecting the motor activities of the nervous system and characterized by involuntary movements.
