Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin subicibilis.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin subicibilis capable of being made the subject of a predicate (from 13th cent. in British sources), capable of being subjected to (from 14th cent. in British sources; < classical Latin subicere (see subject adj.) + -ibilis -ible suffix), with insertion of -j- after the past participle subiectus or other related words in Latin or English (see subject adj., subject v.).
