A trade union now composed of paper-workers, etc. (see below), in the printing industries.The union was formed in 1966 by the amalgamation of the National Union of Printing, Bookbinding, and Paper Workers and the National Society of Operative Printers and Assistants. In 1972 this union was divided, with the paper workers retaining the acronym SOGAT. In 1982 SOGAT amalgamated with the National Society of Operative Printers Graphical and Media Personnel. The new union was called SOGAT 82.
