Etymology: < Chinese Shàolínsì, the name of a Buddhist monastery in the Henan Province of China, built in the late 5th cent. a.d.
Any of various styles or schools of Chinese martial arts developed by or popularly associated with the monks of the Shaolin monastery. Frequently attributive.
