Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French sciage.
Etymology: < French sciage (1863 or earlier), specific use of sciage sawing (13th cent. in Old French) < scier to saw (ultimately < classical Latin secāre : see secant adj. and n.) + -age -age suffix. N.E.D. (1910) gives the pronunciation as (siāʒ) /siaːʒ/.
Obsolete. rare.
A sawing movement of the hand used in massage.
