Etymology: < post-classical Latin diallelus (in diallelus modus (1569 or earlier)) < Hellenistic Greek διάλληλος (in τρόπος διάλληλος reasoning in a circle) < ancient Greek δι' ἀλλήλων through or by means of one another (see diallelon n.).In form dyallalles after French †diallelle (1723 (in the passage translated in quot. 1725) or earlier; now diallèle).
