Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin renōdāt-, renōdāre.
Etymology: < classical Latin renōdāt-, past participial stem (see -ate suffix3) of renōdāre to tie back, to untie < re- re- prefix + nōdāre (see node v.). Compare earlier renode v.
Obsolete. rare. Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
transitive. To undo (a knot). Also: to tie again; to tie tightly. Cf. renode v.
