单词 rangant
释义

rangantadj.

Brit. /ˈran(d)ʒ(ə)nt/, /ˈraŋɡ(ə)nt/, U.S. /ˈrændʒ(ə)nt/, /ˈræŋɡ(ə)nt/
Origin: Of uncertain origin. Perhaps a borrowing from French. Etymons: French rageant; French rangant, rangeant.
Etymology: Origin uncertain; perhaps an editorial misreading of, or typographical error for, French rageant, present participle of rager rage v., or perhaps < French rangant, variant of rangeant, present participle of ranger range v.1, although the semantic motivation would be difficult to account for.
Heraldry. Now rare.
Of an animal, esp. a bull: depicted as if enraged or charging; = furiosant adj.
