Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: psalter n., -er suffix1.
Etymology: < psalter n. + -er suffix1. With the form sautreour compare -our suffix. Attested earlier in a surname, although it is unclear whether this is to be interpreted as reflecting the Middle English word or an otherwise unattested Anglo-Norman equivalent: Guilioto le Sautriour (1302).
