Origin: A borrowing from French. Probably also partly formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: French presentor ; present v., -or suffix.
Etymology: < Anglo-Norman presentor, presentour (in legal use) person who presents, member of a jury of presentment (late 13th cent.), person who presents (a1412 or earlier; also attested as presenteur ; compare Middle French, French présenteur person who presents (1180 in Old French)) < présenter present v. + -or , -our (see -or suffix). In later use probably partly also < present v. + -or suffix. Compare presenter n.
