Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin porus.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin porus (see pore n.1).Compare earlier use of the Latin word in an English context:1764 J. Berkenhout Clavis Anglica Linguæ Bot. (at cited word) Linnæus chuses to class these Pori, pores, observable on the surface of some plants, among the secretory, rather [than] excretory glandulæ.
