Etymology: Either < French acquis (short for acquis communautaire acquis communautaire n.), or independently (in English) short for acquis communautaire n.
= acquis communautaire n. Also: a particular piece or section of European Union legislation; cf. Schengen acquis n. at Schengen n. 2c.
