Etymology: < German Pisanit (A. Kenngott Uebersicht der Resultate mineral. Forsch. 1859 (1860) 10) < the name of F. Pisani , who described the mineral + -it -ite suffix¹.

Mineralogy.

A mineral which consists of a hydrated sulphate of iron and copper, (Fe,Cu)SO₄.7H₂O, and is a cuprian variety of melanterite occurring as bluish crystals.
