Etymology: < Middle French pharmacopole (1537 in the passage translated in quot. ?1541 at main sense; French †pharmacopole ) and its etymon classical Latin pharmacopōla < ancient Greek ϕαρμακοπώλης < ϕαρμακο- pharmaco- comb. form + -πώλης -pole comb. form.
