Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin perflation-, perflatio.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin perflation-, perflatio action of blowing through (5th cent.) < classical Latin perflāt- , past participial stem of perflāre perflate v. + -iō -ion suffix1. Compare Middle French perflation (c1550 in Paré in an apparently isolated attestation).
The action of blowing through or on something; esp. ventilation provided by air blowing through a space; an instance of this.
