Etymology: < scientific Latin pedialgia (1822 or earlier) < Hellenistic Greek πεδίον metatarsus (already in ancient Greek denoting a plain: see pedion n.) + post-classical Latin -algia -algia comb. form. Compare French pédionalgie (1762), Portuguese pedionalgia (1590).With the form pedialgy compare -y suffix3.
Medicine. Obsolete. rare. Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
Pain in (the sole of) the foot; podalgia.
