Etymology: < French parallélogramme (1547) < post-classical Latin parallelogrammum (4th–5th cent.) < Hellenistic Greek παραλληλόγραμμον , use as noun of neuter singular of παραλληλόγραμμος bounded by parallel lines < ancient Greek παράλληλος parallel adj. + γραμμή line (see -gram comb. form).
