释义 | Oreopithecusn. Palaeontology. An extinct ape, Oreopithecus bambolii, known from numerous late Miocene fossil remains found chiefly in Italy, and dated to about eight million years ago. Also: the genus Oreopithecus itself. Oreopithecus, isolated on an island and living in swampy habitats, had anomalous features that make it difficult to classify.
