Obsolete. rare.

The Massacre of the Magi, which according to some accounts of early Persian history (see Herodotus 3. 79 and elsewhere) followed the killing of the Magian Gaumata in c522 b.c. by Darius the Great and the restoration of the Achaemenid dynasty. (In quot. 1711 figurative.)
