Origin: A borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element; probably modelled on a French lexical item. Etymons: Latin mari- , mare , -graph comb. form.
Etymology: < classical Latin mari-, mare sea (see mare n.4) + -graph comb. form, probably after French maréographe mareograph n. Compare later mareograph n.
Now rare.
