A yarn formed from a combination of an elastic material with a fibre thread, used in the manufacture of corsetry, swimwear, etc. This yarn, originally comprising a core of extruded rubber wrapped with a smooth outer thread of silk, cotton, rayon, or wool, was developed in New York by James H. and Percy Adamson.
