单词 | isatin |
释义 | isatinn. Chemistry. A crystalline, reddish-orange substance (C8H5NO2), of brilliant lustre, obtained from indigo by oxidation. Isatin in combination plays the part of an acid, forming isatites, e.g. potassium isatite, C8H4KNO2. With bromine and chlorine it forms bromisatin (C8H4BrNO2), chlorisatin, in which one or two atoms of hydrogen are replaced by equivalent quantities of bromine or chlorine. The salts of these are bromisatites and chlorisatites.
