Etymology: < fishing n.1 + box n.2In sense 1 so called because small by comparison with the owner's main residence.
1. Chiefly British. A relatively small country house by a river, stream, etc., used as a residence while fishing in the summer. Cf. box n.2 29. Now historical and rare.
