Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin ferrūmināt-, ferrūmināre.
Etymology: < classical Latin ferrūmināt-, past participial stem (see -ate suffix3) of ferrūmināre to cement, bind, to solder < ferrūmen cement, glue, solder < ferrum iron (see ferro- comb. form) + -men (see -ment suffix). Compare earlier ferrumination n.
1. transitive. To cement or solder together; to unite physically. Now rare.
