Chemistry.
A sweet-tasting crystalline alcohol which occurs in various plants and also in the lenses of the eyes of persons affected by galactosaemia. Also called galactitol, dulcite, (formerly) dulcose.Dulcitol is a reduced derivative of galactose, isomeric with mannitol; CH2OH(CHOH)4CH2OH.
