Etymology: < data n. + -gram comb. form.Datagrams, in an apparently unrelated earlier use, was also the title of a newsletter of the Association of American Medical Colleges, published between 1959 and 1970, reporting statistical data.
Computing and Telecommunications.
A data packet in an Internet Protocol network which carries its own routing information for passage through the network and which does not generate an acknowledgement when received.
