Etymology: < modern Latin (Latreille 1806), prop. adjective plural neuter sc. animalia, < Greek δεκάποδα, neuter plural of δεκάπους ten-footed.
Zoology. With plural agreement.
1. The highest order of Crustacea, having ten feet or legs; it includes the lobster, crab, crayfish, shrimp, etc.
