Origin: Formed within English, by derivation; perhaps partly modelled on a French lexical item, or perhaps partly modelled on a Latin lexical item. Etymons: cellar n.1, -age suffix.
Etymology: < cellar n.1 + -age suffix, in sense 1 apparently after either Middle French celerage, celeraige, cellerage, sceleraige duty payable on cellared wine (1339; French †cellerage) or post-classical Latin cellaragium, celeragium storage in cellar, payment for such storage (from 13th cent. in British sources).
